Fly that Turns Ants into ZOMBIES.

I have no idea why i have just copied this and pasted it here, but this is sort of what happens when you study for a Biology exam.
This is really cool. check out the video.
The second one is of the jewel wasp.
----------------------------
The phorid fly turns fire ants into zombies by laying eggs inside them. When the larvae hatch, they eat their way to the ant's brain, which they also eat, leaving the fiery ants to wander around like zombies before dying.

"At some point, the ant gets up and starts wandering," said Rob Plowes, a research associate at UT.

The maggot eventually migrates into the ant's head, but Plowes said he "wouldn't use the word 'control' to describe what is happening. There is no brain left in the ant, and the ant just starts wandering aimlessly. This wandering stage goes on for about two weeks."

About a month after the egg is laid, the ant's head falls off and the fly emerges ready to attack any foraging ants away from the mound and lay eggs. "

Dear Malaysians,

Streamyx is pleased to announce that Malaysia's broadband lines have officially been declared as the slowest connections in the world.
At the moment we are trying to break the world record for the longest time to load google.com. The record is set at 5 minutes, and we are hoping to achieve a new record of 45 minutes.

Wish us luck!

Youth gathering @ Jason's.

22 of us + some extra adults got together in Jason's [That's not the right spelling, but it is now.] House last night for the usual monthly youth gathering.

uhh, the program was really simple. There was dinner and then all of us played an ancient game that Ming Ruey and I decided to bring back to life.
-
Basically what we did was that we got Yue Jin/Robert [yalah yalah"robert"] to get his very very pink blanket from his bed room, and we divided the youth into 2 groups.
-
And we then got both the groups to sit on opposite sides of the blanket. Now each group would have to select one person to squat in front of the blanket and when the blanket was dropped, they would have to shout the name of the person behind the blanket as fast as they could.
notice the pink? =P
-
And well, the winner got to feed the loser.
-
I was smart lah, i decided to stand and help with the blanket and explain the game to the rest.
Like that noneed to play maaaah :p
-
Then there was a BBQ outside which i failed to participate in due to the unusual hot weather. I just stayed indoors and lepaked around. =D
-
Tada!
Okay okay, i actually have tonnes more pictures from like 4 different camera's, but I'm just too lazy, so i randomly picked a few lah.. -___-

DoTA on a 50 inch.

Hmmm.... my skills are improving!!!
Okay no la no la.... The picture is fake one lah...
I was at Jason's house earlier, and i decided to try playing DOTA on his plasma...
Turns out that when you blow it up that big, the game sucks... -____-
LOL
more pictures next time!

A (H1N1): Second confirmed In Penang

PUTRAJAYA: A second Malaysian has been confirmed with the Influenza A (H1N1) virus at the Penang Hospital, said Health Ministry deputy director-general Datuk Dr Ramlee Rahmat.

The patient, a woman, was admitted to the Penang Hospital on Friday and the results were confirmed this morning, he told reporters at the ministry here.

Dr Ramlee said she was a friend of the first patient who was confirmed with the virus at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on Friday, adding that she was also on the same flight as him from the United States.

Two other friends of theirs who were on the flight have also been quarantined at home, he said, adding that the woman’s family are also under home quarantine.

Dr Ramlee said both patients are in stable condition while the other two friends have not shown any symptoms of H1N1 infection.

Explaining the development of the first patient, he said, the fever had dropped and his five family members who were quarantined also do not show symptoms.

Even the staff of a private clinic the first patient went to were placed under home quarantine and have shown no symptoms of the virus infection, he added.

On the passengers of Flight MH 091 from Newark, New Jersey at arrived at the KL International Airport on May 13, Dr Ramlee said 35 of 192 passengers had contacted the ministry and that the list of passengers has been sent to all state health departments to help contact them.

He also said that of the 192 passengers, 119 comprising of 81 Malaysians and 38 foreigners, were still in Malaysia and that 73 have left the country since.

The ministry has informed the World Health Organisation about the 73 people who had left so that the countries of destination are notified, added Dr Ramlee.

Oh we are so fucked now.

I passby the hospital every day :(

Malaysia Confirms A(H1N1) Virus Case.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia on Friday confirmed its first case of the A(H1N1) flu in a 21-year-old student who returned from the United States on Wednesday morning.

All the 192 passengers on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH091 from Newark on Wednesday are urged to contact the Health Ministry by calling 03-88810200 or 03-88810300

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the case made Malaysia the 36th country to be affected by the virus.

“Malaysia is now on high alert,” said Liow, who is in London now, enroute to Geneva, for a World Health Organisation meeting. He added he would return earlier than his scheduled return next Friday.

Meanwhile, A statement by the Health Ministry's director-general, Dr. Ismail Merican, said the young man was hospitalised on Thursday for fever, sore throat and body aches.

Tests confirmed that he was infected with the A(H1N1) virus, the statement said. He is receiving anti-viral treatment and was in stable condition, it said.

Ismail said the ministry had contacted members of his family but they have not been placed under quarantine.

Ismail said his department was taking steps to protect public health and that there was no reason to panic.

Meanwhile, in Putrajaya, acting Health Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said later Friday that the fact that Malaysia’s first A(H1N1) patient managed to pass through the scanners at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) undetected was in no way indicative of scanners’ failure.

Kong said the scanners installed since the start of the global alert on the disease traced elevated body temperature levels in travellers coming into the country and did not pick out the 21-year-old student flying in from the United States as the symptoms were not showing yet.

He said the virus had a two to three day incubation period during which none of the symptoms linked to the disease were visible and that was why he passed undetected by the scanner after his flight landed at 7.15am on Wednesday.

He said the Health Ministry would continue to use the scanners at entry points and continue with all the precautionary measures it had taken since the global alert was first issued and there were no plans to tighten measures further.

“The ministry has taken all the possible precautionary measures to control and contain the disease after the WHO (World Health Organisation) issued a level five alert so we are calling on the public not to panic as the situation is under control.

“I also want to assure the people that we will make public any information related to the disease that we have just as we did with our first case confirmed today,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that a man from Bukit Mertajam held under observation at the isolation ward of the Penang Hospital has been declared free of Influenza A (H1N1).

"We just got a report that the blood test on the 26-year-old man was negative," State Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said when contacted by Bernama Friday.

A test on a sample of his blood had been sent to Kuala Lumpur.

The man was kept for observation Thursday after he was found to have fever and symptoms similar to those of Influenza A (H1N1) on his return from the United States.

Two weeks ago, a New Zealand tourist was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital for suspected Influenza A (H1N1) but a blood test also showed up negative.

Angels and Demons

The movie was done fantastically, although it didn't follow the book word for word. The Book's plot has a few more characters and its plot is waaaay more complex compared to what was shown on screen. The 5th ambigram that is supposed to be the Illuminati diamond was replaced by 2 keys representing the Vatican city or some crap like that.

Although the plot was far away from the book, i really liked the show because it gave an image to the places that were described in the novel.
Another interesting thing to keep in mind is that the scenes for the St.Peters square were all shot on scale models because the Vatican banned them from shooting the movie on location. SO considering that, they did a really good job.
Oh and i would like to comment on the Anti-matter part. The amount of anti-matter in the canister was waaaay exaggerated. It would have been a small 0.5 gram globule that would have caused the explosion. I guess they just did it for the epicness.
Rate: 7/10 due to the fact that half the story was changed :(

These days anything sells.

Yeah apparently even garbage is worth money.

Now I do not know who in their right mind would buy this, but apparently 300 boxes have already been sold. Whats in the box you may ask? The answer is garbage. Literally. =.=

From his website:

"I sell garbage. I scour New York City streets picking up trash. After filling bags with subway passes, Broadway tickets, and other NYC junk, I carefully arrange plastic cubes full of the stuff. Each box is unique and won't leak or smell. The cubes are then signed, numbered, and dated, making them perfect for anyone who wants their own piece of the NYC landscape."

And these boxes of garbage are HELL expensive costing $50 - $100 A box.

Ahya u want rubbish ah, come i sell u kotak for RM15 only lah... help you save upto 300 bucks... =.=

Rubbish is Rubbish.

Facebook has a secret

Whatizzit? whatizzit?

Apparently when you sign onto Facebook, they activate your web cam and take a picture of you without your permission!!! The pictures are then sent to the IDM where they do all sorts of things to your face.

Okay lah, i was lying lah. facebook doesn't do that... What facebook has is a harmless Easter egg on its site that allows you to change the booooooooring white that seems to cover 70% of the page.
All you have to do it key in ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A and Hit the [Enter] button. Every time you click on anything on facebook, you should see a couple of lens flares around...

I found this really cool. Go try it out!

Rolls Royce

Explosions of a bored mind.

Some things to ponder upon:

I was asking myself if there were people who have never seen the ocean, never felt the salty breeze, never seen the horizon stretch over the blue seas.

I asked myself if there were people born in the cities, who have never seen the countryside, who've never seen the trees.

I've seen too much already. I've seen the cities, the places, the trees, but now, I just want to go Home.

I spent Saturday evening at the Baha'i center and McD. What a combination.... =.=
Yeah this is what happens when somebody wears a hat... we steal it and start taking pictures.
One moreMr. MJ wannabe...

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

After college and a whole lot of studying, i decided to catch a show with a few friends. A show that all of us wanted to watch was wolverine and so Sheng bought the tickets waaay before the show. We were lucky though, because the cinema was PACKED. There were people everywhere...

The show was one of the best I have watched this year, and most probably one of the best I've ever watched. [Not the best, but one of the best laaaa] The story line fits perfectly with the X-men trilogy except the fact that William Stryker is actually a different actor compared to the one in X-Men. The scenes were nicely shot, there was a lot of humor to the show and there was a couple of new mutants. I was disappointed that Will i Am's part was quite small....
Overall i would give it a...
9/10
[which is probably the highest rating i have ever given to a show on my blog...]
